Happy Heart Ranch Womens Riding and Drinking Club

The initials HHRWRDC were used by ranch owner Tad Corgill in jest when talking about our core group of boarders at the ranch. We always have a great time riding, then love to have wine tastings after events and at shows. Hence, the joke about a "riding and drinking" club. Please know that the two do not happen at the same time!

This page is dedicated to the horses boarded at Corgill  Happy Heart Ranch. Click on their photos to learn more about everyone. Information and photos will be updated regularly to follow their show careers and just plain fun at the ranch.

Special Invites Only
"Elvis" is in the building! CHHR welcomes Melissa Jesurun and her handsome 2001 black AQHA gelding by Invitation Only. Although Elvis, Melissa and her mom Liz have been associated with our ranch in the past, this is the first time that we can officially claim them as our boarders. Melissa has won numerous awards with Elvis, the biggest of which was a $10,000 scholarship as the high point AQHA youth at the 2008 San Antonio Livestock and Rodeo Show.

Sweet Talkin Forrest
"Forrest" is the cutest, sweetest little guy that you will EVER see.  He is a twin whose sister didn't make it, but he did.  And wow what a personality!  Owned by Peggy Staudt of San Antonio, the little bay is by Sweet Talkin Chip and out of former boarder Tinys Lynda "Jag." He was born in May '07. Photo by Krysti Barrett

Paddy O Pep
"Hansum" was purchased by Kay Prince of Boerne sight unseen because of his great bloodlines. He was shipped down from Oklahoma as a three-year-old stallion where he grew up totally on the range. Out of a "cowy" bred mare, Hansum is a grandson of Paddys Irish Whiskey. Kay is currently entering competitive trail rides on him and anticipates competing in ranch versatility in the future.

Why Not Me
"Misty," who was born in 1981 but doesn't look her age, is owned by Sharon Brewster of San Antonio.  Sharon hardly misses a day without seeing this sweetheart of a mare. Misty is by well-known Arabian stallion Cass Olé (of The Black Stallion movie fame), and out of a Morgan mare.

Gotta Luv Em
"Sherman" is a 1998 chestnut gelding by local San Antonio area celebrity stallion Royal Blueberry. He is an all around horse, qualifying for the AQHA World Show in reining and winning multiple buckles at open and AQHA shows. He is now owned by Beth Bennett of San Antonio. Besides loving to trail ride, Beth competes in halter and the trail class at shows with Sherman.

Miss Zan Skip Dry
“Skippy” is a 1992 AQHA mare owned by Dr. Paul Deschner of San Antonio. As a junior horse Skippy had a successful show career in Colorado, then was retired to the broodmare band for a few years before returning to the show pen.  Paul showed her in AQHA amateur reining before breeding her to reknown reiner Conquistador Whiz for a 2003 foal. One of Skippy’s earlier foals placed sixth in the prestigious NRHA Futurity. Paul is now starting his three young children in the saddle on Skippy!

Face It Im Bueno
"Malik" is a 2005 bay gelding by Face It Im Good out of a foundation mare Frios Image.  He is owned by Kelsi Storrie of San Antonio, TX.  Kelsi showed Malik in-hand during his yearling year, then started him under saddle herself.  After several months in reining training at Todd Martin's stable, Malik is back home at CHHR. Kelsi intends to continue in the reining discipline, but also wants to have fun trail riding with us here at the ranch.
